How risky is our teens’ behavior?

How risky is the behavior of Brookline students? 2011 survey

December 14, 2012 — The 2011 Youth Risk Behavior Survey has given us the scoop on what our kids are up to. Check out Healthy Brookline Volume XIV for the latest results for Brookline on teens’ alcohol, drug and tobacco use, unhealthy diets, inadequate physical activity, unprotected sex, and other behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence.

The YRBS was developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 1990. It’s the primary source of info on behaviors that can contribute to social problems, disability and death in the United States — behaviors that are often initiated in adolescence. Healthy Brookline Volume XIV includes information on the methodology and purpose of the survey.

The Brookline results can be generalized to apply to all public high schools across Massachusetts.
